I haven't argued with my wife
Lately
We eat our toast harmoniously
These days

We install our software updates
On time now
I didn't storm out the front door
Recently

To the vast unblinking midnight
Air
Not able to see me with its naked
Eye

Nor shiveringly stumbled back
To her
To find out if I'm still welcome
In my only home

I haven't felt life
Or death
Rub against my ankles
In a long time

Snow thaws
And the bear that sleeps
All winter
Wakes up hungry
